Energy Assets is teaming up with the Womens Utilities Network (WUN) to encourage greater industry diversity and better careers progression for women in the utilities sector.

Britain’s leading independent metering, construction, data and energy network company has become an official sponsor of WUN and will host meetings, support mentoring projects and be the headline sponsor at the first-ever WUN event in Scotland in 2020.

WUN was launched in 2017 to give women the skills and confidence they need to build lasting, fulfilling careers in the utility sector. The organisation provides practical support and inspiration to more than 1,200 members, enabling women to build the right networks, get the right training and take control of their own working lives.

Jennifer Faichney, Head of HR at Energy Assets, says the WUN partnership will provide inspiration for future career paths across the company’s sites in Britain and will enhance the existing supportive environment.

She said: “At Energy Assets we are clear that gender cannot be a barrier to recruitment or career progression. We strive to be an employer of choice and this means enshrining equal opportunities for all and actively encouraging women across our organisation to fulfil their potential. This is a commitment we make publicly through our values and something we strive to ‘live’ every day through our corporate culture.

“Being part of WUN will enable the company to look at new ways to support existing and future employees. At the same time, we will be sharing our expertise across the WUN network, helping to create role models and bringing the benefits of a more diverse workforce to our sector.”

WUN Founder Angela Peart said: “We are delighted to welcome Energy Assets into the WUN family. We value the support of companies that recognise the benefits of a gender balance and actively support the careers progression of women through forward-looking recruitment, training and development policies.”

Co-Founder Hayley Monks commented: “Having Energy Assets onboard as a sponsor of WUN is recognition of their commitment to supporting women in our industry.”

Energy Assets is one of Britain’s leading independent metering services, asset management, utility network construction and local energy network ownership companies, delivering a broad spectrum of energy-related services to utility suppliers, developers, contractors and industrial and commercial end-users.
