Outgrowing its Southmoor Lane manufacturing facility, WASP Switching Products has moved into bigger and better premises at Alexandria Park in Havant, Hampshire, in order to expand the business and keep up with growing demand for its unique products.
WASP, a privately owned, specialist electronics and engineering company was formed in 1974 and now employs 110 people with a turnover of almost £10M. The company designs and manufactures a range of customised rotary switches and custom-made membrane switches, specialist keypads and touch screens for use in professional applications including defence, medical, food production and more recently the aviation industry.
Supporting WASP’s new move into the 24,000 sq ft manufacturing and office facility, SIS, the South’s leading commercial fit-out, refurbishment and relocation specialists, worked alongside the management team to create and efficient internal working environment, following a successful competitive tender win.
SIS designed and installed a brand new mezzanine floor, complete with new suspended ceilings, wall partitions, heating and ventilation. The production floor area was coated with an essential electrostatic paint and the whole facility was completed with cosmetic decoration and carpets.
Finished on time (approx three months to completion) and to budget, the project was smoothly managed by Senior Project Manager at SIS, Paul Stocks, who recently joined the company. Having already spent over 20 years in the fit-out and refurbishment industry his experience, creative flair and knowledge quickly turned an empty shell into a workable unit, exceeding customer expectations.
Roy Middleton, Managing Director, WASP Switching Products, said: “Effectively managed by SIS, the move to new premises was made as stress free as possible – managed in three parts, SIS first completed the fit-out of the new unit, allowing us to move in stages across to the new facility without too much disruption to daily activity. Moving all of our heavy machinery and materials was taken care of and set-up as instructed and finally SIS gutted out our old premises and painted it ready for future use. Working in partnership with SIS for the first time was both a positive and professional relationship and we are delighted with the results.”
