Come and see affordable ownership opportunities on Rowner

13th July 2010

First Wessex, part of the Rowner Renewal Partnership, is inviting local people to a drop-in session at The Nimrod Community Centre in Nimrod Drive, Rowner from 4.30 - 7.00 pm on Thursday 15 July.

First Wessex will show interested people the number of houses and flats available under its Homebuy Scheme (part rent-part buy). The Homes and Communities Agency co-funds the HomeBuy scheme to give people the opportunity to buy a new and affordable home.

Tony Jones, Sales and Marketing Manager for First Wessex explains:

“In Phase One of the Rowner Renewal Project over 219 new homes are being built and 97 are for affordable housing. On Thursday interested residents can drop into the Community Centre to see for themselves the homes on offer and find out more about this exciting opportunity to own their own home. By purchasing a property through the Newbuild Homebuy scheme residents can buy a property from just £120 per week."

If residents cannot make Thursday’s session then the Alver Village Sales and Information Office will open permanently from Saturday 17 July along Grange Road. The opening times for this office will be:

Tuesday- Sunday (10 am – 5 pm)

Monday (1pm – 5pm)

First Wessex staff will be at the office one day a week but Taylor Wimpey’s Sales Team will pass on interested HomeBuy people’s details to First Wessex who will contact them personally.

Any resident who requires further information or wishes to discuss what happens next, should contact First Wessex on the Rowner Renewal Enquiry Line: 08450 343317

First Wessex is a respected local association with a strong track record of success in community development and regeneration. First Wessex manages 1400 homes in Gosport of mixed tenure for rent and shared ownership. It has a significant stake in Rowner and is a well respected landlord, well placed to manage the outcomes of the regeneration.

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is the single, national housing and regeneration agency for England.  We bring together English Partnerships, investment functions of the Housing Corporation, and the Academy for Sustainable Communities, with major delivery programmes of Communities and Local Government.

Our role is to create opportunity for people to live in high quality, sustainable places. We provide funding for affordable housing, bring land back into productive use and improve quality of life by raising standards for the physical and social environment.

Gosport Borough Council is the accountable body for the citizens of Gosport and speaks on behalf of the whole community. The redevelopment of the Rowner Village is a significant priority for the Council. They wish to work closely with their residents to ensure that within Rowner a cohesive and sustainable community is maintained. The Council has long supported community development and projects in Rowner and has assembled the team to get things done.

Hampshire County Council has played a key leadership role in facilitating the Partnership. It has committed specialist project management and financial support and secured the political will, at regional and national levels, for the regeneration of Rowner. It is the accountable body for the citizens of Hampshire and takes the strategic view for long term benefit. On the project their responsibilities include issues affecting roads, transport and regeneration.
