ToDler- the UK's First 'On-and-Off' Station ToD Fulfilment Terminal

27th October 2011

Innovative TVM Gains RSP Approval

ToDler®, the UK’s first purpose-built ‘collect-only’ rail ticket vending machine (TVM) recently launched by Parkeon Transit, has received ATOC/RSP accreditation and is being rolled out at stations across London, the Midlands, and South West.

ToDler® has been specially developed by leading ticketing technology company Parkeon as a ToD ‘queue-buster’
that helps TOCs optimise their retail space. Manufactured in Britain, ToDler’s compact size, ease of installation and good looks means it can also be sited ‘off-station’ at locations such as shopping malls, universities, military establishments and large corporate headquarters.

“ToDler responds to growing consumer demand for buying rail tickets online and collecting before departure,” says Paul Moirano, Head of UK Sales, Rail, for Parkeon. “The major benefits for operators include its small footprint, ease of use, and its ability to deliver pre-booked and paid-for tickets up to three times as fast as conventional TVMs.

“It is the first purpose-designed ‘collect only’ terminal of its type – and has proven to be extremely effective in cutting waiting times at existing TVMs and in speeding up the whole fulfilment process. Its ability to be installed ‘off-station’ also makes it very attractive for TOCs because it encourages passengers to pick up tickets well in advance of their day of travel.”

Parkeon’s ToDler TVM uses a large, high-luminance colour touch-screen and rapid print technology to increase customer throughput. Says Paul Moirano: “The feedback from both operators and customers has been  excellent – because
we all know that queuing for tickets, particularly when they’ve been purchased in advance, is very inefficient for train companies and frustrating for customers.”
