The Key to Rowner's Regeneration
2nd November 2011In October, Harvest worked closely with the Rowner Renewal Partnership to celebrate and welcome Rowner's first new residents to the regeneration area of Alver Village in Gosport.
Hazel Warwick, spokesperson for the Rowner Renewal Partnership and Deputy Chief Executive of First Wessex presented a ceremonial key to The Mayor of Gosport, Cllr Chris Carter to signify a new beginning for the area. The Mayor thanked the Rowner Renewal Partnership for their commitment and work over the last four years and looked ahead six years to the regeneration's completion and its many benefits for future generations to come.
More than 33 residents have now moved into Alver Village with a further 46 expected to join them by the New Year. These include people who own their homes, those on shared ownership and residents who rent from First Wessex. It is truly a diverse neighbourhood and already there is a lively community spirit developing.
Harvest managed the whole event, organising invitations for residents and VIPs, writing speeches, handling media relations and organising photography, children's entertainment, a marquee and catering arrangements for high tea.
Harvest also interviewed the new residents and produced media case studies for each of the three types of residents - private residents, those purchasing a property on a shared ownership basis and those paying affordable rent illustrating the affordability of the new homes. The invitation of local dignitaries and VIPs, including the MP Caroline Dinenage and the Town Criers from the 17th Century Village was also organised by Harvest.
Kevin Bourner from the Homes and Communities Agency said that it was " a very proud day ...new homes are developing apace within our first phase and there will be more than 200 new and affordable homes here by next summer. Work on the second phase will start soon including new apartments, a Tesco supermarket and smaller retail units which will bring much needed jobs to the area."
Valuable positive press and radio coverage was gained for the Rowner Renewal Partnership but most importantly the new residents were welcomed and embraced as part of the new future for Rowner.
