Simmonds Receives National Accolade at EEF Awards
6th February 2012Alex Simmonds, who works for Messier Services Limited in Gloucester, has been named runner-up in the Outstanding Achievement by a First Year Apprentice Award category of the national EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2011 in a prestigious awards ceremony in London.
Simmonds was nominated for the national awards for the drive, determination and dedication he had demonstrated during the first year of his apprenticeship with Messier Services. He has an exceptional level of practical skill and knowledge and a unique talent for problem solving through innovative ideas and is clearly on track to become a very competent engineer.
The annual awards are hosted by EEF , the manufacturers’ organisation, and recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers.
Paul Clifford, Managing Director at Messier Services said: “We have a very strong talent pool of young enthusiastic apprentices supported by our award winning apprentice development scheme. These young people will assure the continued growth of our business going forward; Alex has proven himself to be an exceptional member of that team, we are immensely proud of his achievements”

Simmonds reached the national final, held at a glittering Gala Dinner at Plaisterers’ Hall , Old London Wall, by winning his category in the EEF South West regional competition.
