SIMMONDS WINS PRESTIGIOUS MANUFACTURING AWARD

South West winners announced in the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2011

Alex Simmonds, who works for Messier Services Limited in Gloucester, has been announced as the winner of the EEF South West Region Outstanding Achievement by a First Year Apprentice Award, sponsored by EAL, in a ceremony held at the @Bristol conference venue.

Simmonds won the award for his exceptional level of skill and knowledge and the excellent practical skills he has demonstrated during his first year as an apprentice. He has also demonstrated a unique talent for problem solving through innovative ideas.

The annual awards are hosted by EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers.

Paul Knight, South West Region Director for EEF, commented: “Manufacturing in the South West is vitally important as an economic driver for the UK with over 11,500 manufacturing businesses contributing £12.5billion to the local economy. It is very important that the industry develops and nurtures young talent who, like Alex, have made a valuable contribution to their companies while developing their own skills. Congratulations to Alex on this great achievement ”
