Hampshire Cosmetics Limited has been announced as the winner of the EEF South East Region Environmental Efficiency Award, sponsored by ENER-G, in a ceremony held at Mercedes Benz World in Surrey.
The Waterlooville based company, which is involved in the development, manufacture and filling of toiletries and personal care products, won the award for its forward-thinking and success in reducing its carbon footprint by generating renewable energy on site, but with no capital outlay.
The annual awards are hosted by EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers.
Jim Davison, South East Region Director for EEF, commented: “Manufacturing in the South East is now so important as an economic driver for the UK with over 45,000 manufacturing businesses contributing £45billion to the UK economy. Companies like Hampshire Cosmetics are leading the way with its forward-thinking, which has resulted in a large percentage of its electricity being supplied free of charge for the next 25 years! Congratulations to them on winning this award.”
