MELKSHAM COMPANY WINS PRESTIGIOUS MANUFACTURING AWARD
7th November 2011South West winners announced in the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2011
Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems (UK) Limited has been announced as the winner of the EEF South West Region Innovative Operating Practices Award sponsored by JAM Recruitment, in a ceremony held at the @Bristol conference venue.
The Melksham based company, which manufactures railway equipment including the supply of railway braking equipment and aftermarket support, won the award for the way in which the company has formulated and realised a new process by taking a radical and different approach to a product cell facility that is clean, efficient and delivers a higher rate of output and improved quality.
The annual awards are hosted by EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers.
Paul Knight, South West Region Director for EEF, commented: “Manufacturing in the South West is vitally important as an economic driver for the UK with over 11,500 manufacturing businesses contributing £12.5billion to the local economy. Companies like Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems are leading the way by finding new ways to increase its operational efficiency, which will of course impact on its bottom line.
