South East winners announced in the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2011
Pacepacker Services Limited has been announced as the winner of the EEF South East Region Outstanding Export Award, sponsored by UKTI, in a ceremony held at Mercedes Benz World in Surrey.
The Great Bardfield based manufacturer of packing, pick and place and robot palletising equipment for use by manufacturers operating in food and bulk solids industries, won the award for its ambition, risk taking and overall level of success. Due to thorough market research, detailed strategic planning, strong partner relations and a solid base for future business, the company was deemed to be a fine example of how to do business abroad.
Pacepacker Services was also South East Regional Runner-Up of the Innovative Operating Practices Award. The company was praised for being bold and innovative by tackling customer confidence with a practical solution. To eliminate customer hesitation a "try before you buy" program was implemented improving relations, and figures. The judges felt this to be an excellent example of a business aligning itself with its customers to meet their needs with a new operating solution.
The annual awards are hosted by EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers.
Jim Davison, South East Region Director for EEF, commented: “Manufacturing in the South East is now so important as an economic driver for the UK with over 45,000 manufacturing businesses contributing £45billion to the UK economy. Companies like Pacepacker Services are leading the way by taking an ambitious route, taking risks and by careful strategic planning, setting itself up as a fine example of how to do business abroad. Congratulations to them on winning this award.”
Lewis Scott, Regional Director for the South East Region of UKTI, said: “The EEF shares our commitment to promote the benefits of overseas trade to manufacturing firms. I hope these awards show exporting in the South East is alive and well.
“There are great opportunities abroad for engineering companies and this well-deserved award shows what the benefits for companies can be.
