ESSEX COMPANY WINS PRESTIGIOUS MANUFACTURING AWARD

South East winners announced in the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2011

Novar ED&S (Honeywell) has been announced as the winner of the EEF South East Region Innovative People Management Award, sponsored by JAM Recruitment, in a ceremony held at Mercedes Benz World in Surrey.

The Leigh-on-Sea based manufacturer of the MK Electric brand of electrical wiring devices, including sockets, switches and cable management, won the award for the way in which it engaged its whole workforce in a company-wide programme based on lean principles, which allowed everyone to work in a continuous improvement culture. 

The annual awards are hosted by EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers.

Jim Davison, South East Region Director for EEF, commented: “Manufacturing in the South East is now so important as an economic driver for the UK with over 45,000 manufacturing businesses contributing £45billion to the UK economy.  Companies like Novar ED&S (Honeywell) are leading the way by engaging all of its staff in the way the business operates, which in turn reduces its operational costs while maintaining high levels of service and quality.
